Derrick Reed
Legal
I am a trial attorney with a background in civil litigation. I currently represent clients in various labor and employment matters, including harassment, discrimination, and wage/hour related claims. I also serve as outside general counsel for several companies, assisting with their day-to-day operational needs, including contract negotiations and the protection of their valuable confidential information and intellectual property.Prior to founding Reed, PLLC, I worked as a Senior Associate for a labor and employment law firm in Houston where I vehemently defended companies accused of Title VII or Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) violations. I also represented plaintiffs and defendants in various complex commercial litigation matters involving a wide range of financial, shareholder, and trade secret issues.
I received my Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to my legal career, I worked as a Technical Sales Engineer in the Semiconductor industry for a Fortune 100 company. I earned my Juris Doctorate from Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University in 2007, where I served as the Executive Editor for the Law Review and the President of the Intellectual Property Society.
