From Fifth Ward to Architect of Steve Harvey’s Media Empire: Rushion McDonald Talks Creating Wealth from Scratch

The Black Money Tree Podcast continues to feature the voices of some of the top minds in Black wealth building. In addition to being an Emmy Award-winning Producer and Host of Money Making Conversations, our latest guest, Rushion McDonald, is also the architect behind Steve Harvey's media empire and worked with him on The Steve Harvey Show, Family Feud, The Steve Harvey Radio Show, and his internationally-acclaimed book, Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man. McDonald has also worked with a host of elite Hollywood celebrities from Kevin Hart to Monique and Jamie Foxx, and he is an NAACP Image Award winner.
However, McDonald did not grow up with a silver spoon in his mouth. After being born and raised in Fifth Ward, Texas, with six sisters and two brothers in a two-bedroom shotgun house, he moved to attend Forest Brook High School and graduate from the University of Houston.
Although he grew up with a father who had only a third-grade education and who lived paycheck to paycheck to make ends meet, he used grit, survival skills, and a determination to succeed to climb to the top of the entertainment industry and build significant wealth.
McDonald learned many lessons about how to manage money, credit and spending appetites along the way, which he shares with podcast listeners. Additionally, McDonald offers his Five Tenets to Improving Yourself to Victory, which are sure to set listeners on their own path toward building the life of their dreams and the wealth that results.
