Greater Houston Black Chamber
Founded in 1935 as the city’s first Black civic organization, the Greater Houston Black Chamber (GHBC) is the best forum in Houston to reach and partner with Black owned businesses, entrepreneurs, and professionals.
Texas Black Expo is pleased to have had the privilege of working with the GHBC for nearly all of its two decades of TBE’s existence, collaborating on the shared mission point of strengthening businesses and providing access to opportunities for entrepreneurs in Houston’s Black community.
The GHBC is the “go-to” organization for business development and community outreach partnership opportunities in Houston's Black community. The GHBC is dedicated to supporting Black small businesses in the areas of education, certification and accessing contracting opportunities and capital.
Additionally, the GHBC is Houston’s premier source for identifying quality and qualified Black, multi-sectored small businesses to do business with. With a database of over 2,000 unique resources, the GHBC assists its partners and members in navigating Houston’s large, diverse population, industries and the many nuances, which are unique to our city.
From referrals to networking functions, to business matchmaking, the Chamber’s many business development programs provide opportunities to connect with potential purchasers and build business relationships throughout the year. Through such activities, the organization seeks to strengthen the Black small business community which will, in turn, strengthen the Houston economy.
The Chamber has earned Houston’s trust and has built solid alliances with Port of Houston Authority, Houston First, Shell, CenterPoint Energy, Reliant Energy, United Healthcare, University of Houston, Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Initiative, Greater Houston Partnership, Rice University, Houston Community College System, Texas Southern University, Houston Minority Supplier Development Council and other organizations to ensure it is providing accessible resources to its members and the business community.
Texas Black Expo looks forward to continued collaboration, partnership and support with GHBC for the support of Houston’s Black business community.
