TBE CEO Roundtable & Elevator Pitch Competition Helps Houston Entrepreneurs Thrive

Texas Black Expo’s 7th annual CEO Roundtable and Elevator Pitch Competition, which took place January 11, 2022 at the Hilton Americas Hotel, once again provided information, inspiration and investment into the local business community.
The highly-anticipated event began with entrepreneurs assembling to hear corporate executives and business leaders discuss topics pertinent to startup growth and sustainability, including how to better use mobile platforms to market a business, effectively monetizing products and services, increasing sales using social media platforms and ecommerce, and more.
Next, at this Wells Fargo-sponsored event, small business owners were paired with seasoned business leaders for insights, advice, networking and relationship building. Session facilitators included Kim Roxie, Founder of LAMIK Beauty, Onaje Barnes, Senior Account Executive at Nike, and Bobby Bryant, Founder & CEO of DOSS.
Smaller breakout sessions allowed startup owners to ask questions and learn from the experts about finance, marketing, branding, legal and other concerns, an opportunity rarely available to startup owners of color.
Following the CEO Roundtable sessions, the final rounds of the annual Elevator Pitch Competition were held. Entrepreneurs were given one minute in the first round and 30 seconds in the second round to pitch their companies to a panel of judges who evaluated them on their idea, creativity, presentation skills and overall pitch. Each candidate did an exceptional job, but in the end, one business managed to win the judges over and claim the prize.
The winner of this year’s Elevator Pitch Competition was Danielle Montgomery of Hillaries Road Interiors, which creates aesthetically pleasing physical environments through interior design services. Montgomery walked away with $5,000 cash and other prizes.
The Texas Black Expo congratulates Ms. Montgomery on her win and wishes her much success with the growth and expansion of her business. For more information on Hillaries Road Interiors, visit https://hillariesroad.com .
